MDR Technician - Medical Device Reprocessing - Temporary Part-Time

Position: MDR Technician

Status: Temporary Part-Time (up to 3 months with possible extension)

**Salary: $27.68- $28.57/**hour
HOURS OF WORK: Varying 7.5 hour shifts including weekends and evenings. (Hours will adjust according to Operating Room closures and physician availability and hours are subject to change based on operational needs).

Summary of Job:
As a member of the Surgical Services team, the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician cleans, disinfects, sterilizes, sorts and packages all equipment and instruments used in the surgical suites and throughout the hospital in accordance with established standards and quality/risk management protocols. Prepares and delivers treatment supplies and equipment requisitioned by nursing and specialty treatment units throughout the hospital and collects used equipment. Assists certified health care professional surgical service team members in the day-to-day operation of the Surgical Services department.
Education & Experience
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing certificate or re-certification required within the last 5 years
- Completion of a Secondary School graduation diploma or recognized equivalent level of formal education
- Ability to read and understand detailed written and verbal instructions related to the operation and maintenance of equipment, the required methods of cleaning, sterilizing and disinfecting of instruments, equipment and supplies, as well as the ability to perform mathematical calculations related to the preparation of disinfectant solutions.
- Previous Medical Device Reprocessing Technician experience mandatory within the past 2 (two) years.

- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, communication skills and ability to multitask and prioritize
- Relate in a respectful, tactful and sensitive manner with patients, staff and physicians
- Flexibility to modify routines as required to manage changing priorities
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Preference will be given to those individuals with relevant experience in a healthcare environment
- Good attendance and availability required
