Job Description In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director or designate, the MHSU Clinical Data Science & Analyses Lead is responsible for managing the compilation, data preparation, data visualization and analytics of complex health care data to meet the needs and strategic goals of the portfolio. Works with a variety of programming language and business intelligence programs to develop and oversee databases, perform statistical analysis, analyzes trends, and develop complex reports, tables, graphs and other supporting documentation. The Clinical Data Science & Analyses Lead ensures data used in reporting and analyses is accurate and complete. Collaborates with other members of the team to provide feedback on issues related to the data as well as the quality and accuracy of the reports generated.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Bachelor's degree in Health or Public Administration, Health Information, Data Science or Science (Master's preferred) and five (5) years of progressive experience performing increasingly complex data visualization, data preparation, analyses and interpretation, preferably in a health care setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to apply basic clinical and biomedical concepts, clinical care processes, technologies and workflow methods for purposes of analysis and implementation of clinical information systems and applications.
- Demonstrated proficiency with advanced statistical programs (SPSS, SAS), Microsoft Word, Access and Excel and various reporting software packages.
- Demonstrated experience with database management and SQL (programming language).
- Demonstrated effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong data science, analytical and statistical skills (both qualitative and quantitative)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally and foster cooperative team-based working environment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to organize workload and priorities.
