The Role:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor role leads process and team to ensure inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and seamless coordination across procurement, production, and quality teams. This role owns receiving, storage, inventory control, and warehouse layout optimization—while fostering importance and focus on employee safety, food integrity, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory & Warehouse Operations
-
Lead all receiving, storage, and inventory control activities for the Markham warehouse
-
Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely reconciliation of discrepancies
-
Design and optimize warehouse layout to minimize product loss, maximize space, and support operational flow
-
Implement and uphold warehouse documentation protocols, including traceability and lot control
-
Ensure all warehouse activities comply with CFIA, HACCP, BRC, SQF, OHSA, WHMIS, and WSIB standards
-
Establish a forward looking view to warehouse capacity and flag risks that may impact production
Procurement & Supply Coordination
-
Collaborate with Purchasing and Inventory teams to ensure timely delivery and availability of raw materials and packaging
-
Monitor inbound product flow to support production schedules and customer demand
-
Liaise with vendors for delivery coordination, material handling equipment, and warehouse supplies
-
Ensure all inbound materials meet quality and safety specifications before acceptance
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
-
Oversee maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment and infrastructure
-
Coordinate with external vendors for inspections, servicing, and emergency repairs
-
Enhance existing and introduce procedures to proactively maintain equipment
-
Ensure all material handling equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with regulatory standards
Financial Oversight & Reporting
-
Manage the warehouse budget, including labor, supplies, and maintenance costs
-
Conduct monthly inventory audits and spot-checks to ensure accuracy and minimize loss
-
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory turnover, shrinkage, and operational efficiency
Health & Safety Leadership
-
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and internal policies
-
Lead incident investigations and corrective action planning
-
Maintain and update the warehouse’s disaster recovery and emergency response plans
-
Model and enforce safe work practices across all warehouse activities
-
Actively participate in JHSC meetings and support safety improvements in the plant
Food Safety Compliance
-
Ensure all warehouse operations adhere to food safety protocols and documentation requirements
-
Conduct regular audits and training to reinforce importance of food safety
-
Maintain proper segregation, temperature control, and sanitation standards for all food products
Cross-Functional Communication
-
Maintain strong communication with Procurement, FSQA, Sales, and Production teams
-
Provide timely updates to leadership on warehouse performance, risks, and improvement opportunities
-
Address product or service concerns with urgency and professionalism
Leadership & Management:
-
Supervise warehouse staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, training, and performance management
-
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence
-
Administer HR policies related to hiring, coaching, discipline, and performance reviews
-
Support cross-training initiatives and succession planning within the warehouse team
Talent:
-
Assess staff performance and provide coaching and guidance to ensure maximum efficiency and a team aligned with departmental objectives and Wholesome culture.

Provide leadership and direct supervision to employees in their department.

Manage employees, provide training, coaching and development opportunities.

Ensuring that proper employee documentation is sent to HR in a timely and accurate manner.

Approve payroll, attendance requirements, vacation and wellness planning of each team member and approve in ADP accordingly.

Developing “A” players to uphold a high performing sales team.

Ensure that all new employees are effectively orientated and trained.

Effectively coach and counsel employees in dealing with employee relations matters and work with HR on any challenging concerns.

Recruit, train and allocate responsibilities within the team.

Maintaining a regular cadence with the team (daily huddles, weekly meetings, 121’s, and regular employee check ins and feedback sessions).
Manage performance through performance review process and coaching. -
Ensuring performance management is reviewed regularly, and any issues are documented in the employee file.

Having open and honest communication with employees and being able to have crucial, conversations when necessary.

Follow the company’s talent management program with objectivity and meeting timelines of the program, providing reports, arranging feedback sessions and following up on action items.

Makes L3 recommendations based on data and trends for continuous improvement within the scope of their department.

Leads change and creates an environment for the team to participate in process improvement initiatives quarterly to support achievement of KPIs.

Collaborates with Supervisors, Managers and Directors across multiple functions to implement continuous improvement and change plans within the function or customer facing improvements that support our Dominant Brand strategy.

Focusing on CI initiatives and ensuring that this is happening regularly; and that CI initiatives are moving forward on a regular basis.

Qualifications & Role Requirements:
- 5+ years in warehouse or distribution center supervision within food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods environment
- Proficient in WMS, RFID, barcoding, EDI, and ERP systems
- Proven success in implementing warehouse process improvements and system upgrades
- Strong knowledge of CFIA, HACCP, BRC, SQF, OHSA, WHMIS, WSIB compliance
- Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party logistics providers
- Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Comfortable working in cold environments (32°–38°F)
