What You’ll Be Doing
Global Money Operations (GMO) provides infrastructure and processing services for electronic payment products and FX/MM settlement activities. As the Director of Everyday Payments you’ll provide leadership and guidance in areas of payment services to both internal and external stakeholders and develop, enhance and maintain the strategic direction for retail e-transfers, business e-transfers, Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) and the Real Time Rail (RTR). This includes direction on feature enhancements, fraud/risk, payments compliance with Interac and other industry compliance bodies such as Payments Canada, SWIFT and others in anticipation of, and response to, business plans, market trends and regulatory compliance, ensure alignment with broader CIBC strategy & purpose.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How You’ll Succeed

Business Management – Develop purpose-driven, client-focused objectives & strategic plans for Everyday Payment services aligned with EP strategy/Payments Modernization Program and the broader CIBC strategy. Ensure plans exist to keep CIBC competitive in everyday payment services facilitating efficient and robust transaction processing and to remain compliant with policies, standards, guidelines and risk tolerance of these services. Provide industry Subject Matter Expertise on multi-stakeholder (internal and external groups) initiatives to deliver on plan priorities

Identify Business-Building Opportunities - Monitor market environment (consumer, technology, payment networks/associations, standard-setting bodies, new innovations, competition and government/regulatory agencies) and internal reporting and insights exist against strategic and existing payment service operational objectives to understand the impact of change. Assess the long-term viability of identified opportunities to maintain or improve CIBC’s competitive position. Ensure comprehensive competitive information on market penetration, product capabilities and initiatives are maintained. Build support to develop new features, services and/or products specifically tailored to market segments aligning with CIBC’s strategic direction of being an innovative bank.

Subject Matter Expert – Build subject matter expertise around industry mandates (Payments Canada, SWIFT, Interac, etc.) becoming a go-to expert in new and existing Payment rules, regulations and mandates. Represent CIBC positions at industry tables building a trusted brancd and reputation across the industry.
