About the role
Job Description Reporting to the Manager, Quality, the Quality Data Analyst II is responsible for transforming Quality raw data into actionable insights that contribute to strategic decision-making. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and communicate findings to Interested parties.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver. What You'll Do Power BI Development:
- Designs, develops, and maintains interactive and strategically informative Power BI dashboards and reports tailored to the unique requirements of the shipbuilding industry.
- Creates data models and data structures within Power BI to ensure efficient data organization and retrieval. Implement data transformations, calculations, and aggregations to support analysis and reporting needs.
- Integrates data from various sources into Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Generates regular reports and ad-hoc analyses using Power BI. Customizes reports based on users’ requirements that provide insights to support decision-making processes.
- Other duties as required by the Quality group and the business.
Data Analysis And Interpretation
- Analyzes complex data sets related to Quality processes and their interaction with processes from other disciplines; designs performance metrics reports that help to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Provides insights into the Quality measures of processes.
Collaboration
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams within the Quality group and other departments as applicable, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Communicates findings and insights in a clear and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical interested parties.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Data Governance
- Ensures the integrity, security, and quality of data through effective data governance practices.
- Establishes and enforce data standards and best practices within the Quality and shipbuilding data environment.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a data analyst.
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar role.
- Ability to identify and understand business and leadership needs to source the right data and translate them into useful metrics.
- Capability of inquisitive approach to ask critical questions to fully understand requirements.
- Proficient critical thinking to identify valid sources of data, evaluate and challenge processes, ask key questions, assess alternative options, and test hypotheses against relevant criteria.
- Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) is a valuable skill for a Data Analyst, as it enables efficient manipulation and analysis of data within Microsoft Power BI and Excel.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and languages (e.g., SQL, Databricks, Python, R) is a plus.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Experience with Co-Console is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex findings simply to non-technical interested parties.
- Familiarity with database management and Quality concepts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment.

The estimated salary for this position is $84,600 - $103,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
