What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing the day-to-day accounting functions for all departments, including the processing of accounts payable. The Clerk is also responsible for accounts receivable and ensuring all receipts for all departments are recorded and deposited promptly. They collect the fine revenue and input that revenue into the system, and all other necessary information into the Integrated Court Offences Network (ICON). In the course of their duties, the Clerk will attend to the front counter, answer the telephone and respond to requests and enquiries from the public. They also perform filing and administrative duties for the Finance and Purchasing Divisions.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Two-year post-secondary diploma in either Accounting or Business Administration
- Two years of previous work experience in office administration
- One year of previous work experience in the accounting field
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, respectfully, and professionally, at all times
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to maintain filing systems, databases
- Proficient and accurate data entry skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills
