About the role.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance Portfolio Product Services the functional engineer will play a pivotal role in leading technology finance transformations and strategic initiatives pertaining to the S4HANA transformation.

We are seeking a highly skilled S4HANA Finance Functional Engineer with primary expertise in global Tax processes and secondary capability across general FI/CO. This includes deep knowledge in global indirect and direct tax configurations, compliance requirements, and integration with external tax solutions. The ideal candidate will combine this tax expertise with strong functional capabilities across the full S/4HANA Finance and Controlling (FI/CO) suite. They will be responsible for ensuring our SAP S/4HANA Finance and Tax solutions are optimally configured, implemented, and maintained to support both compliance and operational efficiency.

What you’ll be doing.

  • Primary Tax Process Ownership
    • Lead design, configuration, and support for SAP S/4HANA Tax functionality, ensuring compliance with global, regional, and local tax regulations.
    • Integrate SAP Tax processes with external tax engines or other systems as required.
    • Monitor global legislative and regulatory changes, assessing impacts and ensuring timely updates.
    • Partner with corporate and regional tax teams to align technology solutions with evolving compliance needs.
  • Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document FICO configuration and documenting requirements.
  • Solution design: Understanding of the landscape and solutions utilize in our regions to support the Tax and General Finance functions.
  • Configuration and Implementation: Maintain and implement configuration changes to the S4HANA design to support the requirements.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop test scenarios and conduct thorough testing to validate the accuracy and completeness of SAP S4HANA Finance configurations in compliance with FICO requirements.
  • Business Partnering: Serve as a trusted advisor to technology teams, providing technical support to drive informed decision-making. Ensure Cross-functional collaboration with other departments impacted by the controlling requirements.
  • Documentation and Training: Prepare comprehensive documentation i.e. functional and design documentation to capture the requirements and the configuration completed for S4HANA and all surround systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of changes in the S/4 landscapes and evaluate any impacts on the SAP finance solutions. Proactively identify opportunities for system enhancements and process improvements to ensure ongoing compliance and efficiency.

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • SAP S4HANA certifications as a must and a Bachelor or master’s degree in information technology a benefit
  • Extensive experience +/- 8-10 years in SAP and surround systems support the S/4 FI-CO and Tax with a particular emphasis on SAP S/4HANA implementation and optimization, demonstrating a deep understanding of its functionalities and implications for finance processes.
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with Information Technology groups, contributing to cross-functional teams to drive successful SAP S/4HANA and finance transformation projects.
  • Extensive experience working on Global Manufacturing large-scale projects, demonstrating the ability to navigate complexities and deliver results within specified timelines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance principles and best practices, coupled with a proficiency in utilizing finance tools and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to instil complex technical and financial information into clear and actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong project and change management capabilities, adept at managing multiple projects with conflicting priorities and delivering excellence under pressure.
  • Independent and tactical approach to problem-solving, coupled with a collaborative mindset conducive to building professional relationships and working effectively in team environments.
  • Strong understanding of technology operations, including software development lifecycle, cloud services, and IT infrastructure
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous situations, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in the face of change.
  • Experience in risk management on a global scale, with a focus on identifying potential issues and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated data analytics capabilities, showcasing the ability to derive insights, propose alternative solutions, and make recommendations to drive business outcomes.

Compensation Package*: $85,500.00* - $114,000.00CAD annually + bonus eligibility

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
