QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed Grade 12 (MB Standards)
- Successful completion of year three of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Educational Program or registry eligible with the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care required.
- University level science courses preferred
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Previous experience working with Respiratory Therapists or with Respiratory equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of the physiological, social, cultural and economic aspects of patient care.
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position
- Demonstrated communication skills
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
- Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Manager or Therapist, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to the licensed Respiratory Therapist consistent with discipline standards and the practice setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Manager or Therapist, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to the licensed Respiratory Therapist consistent with discipline standards and the practice setting. Duties include:

Assisting the Respiratory Therapist in cleaning, circuiting and calibrating equipment.

Blood gas analysis under the direct supervision of the Respiratory Therapist, will require the Respiratory Therapists signature.

Assisting the Respiratory Therapist in troubleshooting equipment to minimize downtime.

Coordinating with the Respiratory Therapist to pick up/deliver equipment to a variety of locations; including ICU, ER, NICU, wards.

Ordering Stock and non-stock supplies/equipment.

Maintaining records and inventory lists relating to all respiratory equipment and supplies.

Perform spirometry tests on in-patients upon completion of Resptrec spirometry course.
