Job Summary The Tube Park provides a fun and animated controlled snow sliding experience for Whistler Blackcomb guests of all ages and abilities. The Tube Park team consists of approx. 30 employees varying from F/T to P/T positions covering all areas of the park operations. These include 2 Supervisors, Lift operations, Ticket Validation, Ticket seller, Lane starters and Lane clearers. You will oversee the safe and efficient operation of the Tube Park. You will see the construction and ongoing maintenance of the Tube Park lanes and facilities. You will be responsible for the department financials and collaboration with other Whistler Blackcomb departments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Set an excellent example and strives to improve in safety, service and employee experience.
  • To ensure that all service expectations, standards and qualities are being met and exceeded on a continual basis, providing employee coaching and direction as required. Pursuing +1 service model.
  • Hiring and Supervision of staff.
  • Ensure adherence to all operational and safety procedures, resulting in a safe and efficient operation of the Tube Park, lift and other equipment (4 track, groomer, snow blower, etc.) and providing a safe environment for guests and staff.
  • Be 1st responder to any safety issues/incidents within the park or surrounding area, ensuring that all required documentation is completed and filed accordingly.
  • Provide leadership, promote team spirit and cooperative work ethics.
  • Monitor tube lanes daily, dealing with any lane issues that may arise and following up with grooming accordingly on items that need to be addressed.
  • Be on top of any maintenance issues that may arise in the park and dealing with these accordingly including; maintaining the toilet facilities, operating snowmaking equipment, fixing fencing, signs etc.
  • Show initiative in handling routine matters and quick, thoughtful judgment in emergency situations.
  • Prior to public opening of the Tube Park, ensure all safety checks and operational procedures have been completed.
  • Coordinate staff assignments on a daily basis.
  • To ensure that all operational information and procedural changes are communicated in an effective and timely manner. Prepare and conduct a daily morning meeting with staff outlining the day’s operations, safety and customer service.
  • To ensure that scheduling and daily labour management reflect both forecasted and current business levels.
  • Ensure payroll approvals (PeopleSoft), cash outs (Audit), point of sales over/short issues, and any employee performance issues are managed in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ensure proper and complete documentation of daily Tube Park log, lift log, and any accident/safety forms are filled out and filed appropriately.
  • Conduct employee reviews; actively seek opportunities to recognize staff around “Core Values” and assist in the creation and adoption of employee recognition program or events.
  • Actively participate in the Goals and Objectives process, developing and meeting departmental seasonal objectives.
  • Attend and participate in all employee meetings.
  • Initiate and participate with animation. The focus of snow tubing is providing family fun.
  • Maintain the highest housekeeping standards, ensuring a clean and tidy uncluttered, litter-free environment.

Financial Job Responsibilities

  • Develop operating budget for Tube Park Department, including obtaining approval annually for all revenue products.
  • Provide monthly variance reports on operating budget.
  • Ensure that scheduling and daily labor management reflect both forecasted and current business levels.
  • Responsible for maintenance of department budget including tracking of all expenses and revenues
  • Manage capital maintenance and special projects.

Divisional Job Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly operations division meetings.
  • Provide Weekly Reports, Recognition, Financial, Safety audits as required.
  • Work with other Whistler Blackcomb managers for the most efficient use of company resources and staff.
  • Work with the marketing department to promote and build corporate partnerships to support special events
  • Work with the Group Sales department to promote group buyouts and other special offerings.
  • Continuous improvement and development of Tube Park to meet the ever-changing needs of our guests.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience is required
  • Previous Tube Park leadership experience is an asset
  • Must be well groomed and in good physical condition.
  • Must be mature, energetic and dependable, with the ability to take initiative and work unsupervised.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and guest relations skills
  • Previous cash handling experience an asset
  • Microsoft office and good administrative skills
  • Must possess a valid BC driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract
  • A proven record as a team leader, motivator who works well under pressure, possesses strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Flexible (ability to work varying hours/days as business needs dictate)
  • Must satisfactorily complete the required lift exams
  • Criminal record check.
