Protein Procurement Manager

Job Title: Protein Procurement Manager Salary Range: CAD$66,848.– CAD$83,560. Working Type: On-Site
PURPOSE OF ROLE Organise and manage buying events with Walmart buyers Main point of contact between customer, suppliers and commercial Raising service level challenges with customer and commercial Coordinating the short- and medium-term requirements with the demand planner and raw material scheduler
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Suppliers Key contact for customer and commercial communications Work alongside procurement insight team to guide and influence buying decisions Loading purchasing events and purchasing agreements to Foods Connected platform Loading agreed prices to supplier price files and signing off with suppliers Management of long-term contract purchasing Suppliers purchasing model management on Foods connected and with the customer Ensuring all active codes are set up in the procurement documents – retail and primal Reviewing retail order amendments and solutions to improve service level Timeline management of buys Attend S&OP Meetings Manage imported meat schedules (if applicable) Frozen stock management at external cold-stores (if applicable) Management of external fresh stock at cold-stores (if applicable)
Demand Planning Work with demand planner to understand long term requirements Overseeing the short- and medium-term supplier forecasts. Making decisions on next steps if the forecast drops or reviewing options with forecast increases/shorts Raw material Scheduler - reviewing daily order shorts to understand impact to the business and what steps can be taken to mitigate. Escalate to Protein Procurement manager and commercial where required. Raw material Scheduler – checking usage on supplier
NPD and CI Attend NPD & Feasibility – feed in procurement insight around pricing, availability etc Sign off costings and submit to accounts Raising supplier improvement plans with WM buyers and commercial team
KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Preferably meat protein knowledge, though not a prerequisite. Ideally, from a buying/purchasing background, preferably from a fast-moving fresh food environment. Excellent communication skills and works well within a multifunctional environment
