An integral part of the interdisciplinary health team, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will take a holistic view of the patient’s needs, abilities, and resources. The NP would demonstrate advanced knowledge, skill, and judgment in providing care to patients that is consistent with CNO Practice Standards as well as competencies defined by the Canadian Nurses Association. This includes the authority to diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform procedures.

#REQUIREMENTS**:**

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the Extended Class-Adult

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

  • Successful completion of the CNO approved Controlled Substances education

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ recent working experience in an Emergency Department

  • Experience working as a nurse practitioner an asset

  • Advanced health assessment and clinical skills combined with sound clinical judgement and diagnostic skills relevant to dealing with a wide variety of health concerns

  • Demonstrated ability to respond appropriately to rapidly changing clinical conditions

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, and to effectively communicate and collaborate in an inter-professional team context

  • Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and expertise in the care of seniors

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Excellent organizational and problem solving abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Computer and information technology literacy

  • Comply with confidentiality policy of institution and profession

  • Comply with accountability requirements for profession and by Regulated Health Professions Act

  • Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital

  • Bilingualism preferred (French/English)
