ABOUT YOU
In this supervisory role, you will schedule and train janitorial and operational staff and coordinate services in a variety of our recreation centres and buildings. You will be the Chief Engineer for two ammonia refrigeration plants in compliance with Technical Safety British Columbia regulations. Additionally, you will monitor and operate the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, swimming pool and weight room equipment and systems along with performing minor maintenance and repair tasks. You will prepare reports and records, and assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets related to the work.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
You have considerable knowledge of janitorial, building maintenance and operations work; and a sound knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, swimming pool and weight room equipment, services and systems. You also have a working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, operating ice making and ice resurfacing equipment (Zamboni/Olympia) and of general building structures and components. You are skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment used in the work and are able to lift up to 50 lbs. You are able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and deal tactfully and courteously with the public.

Completion of Grade 12 is required and is preferably supplemented by technical courses related to the work. You have considerable related work experience in janitorial services and building maintenance operation, including supervisory janitorial experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may also be considered. Also required are a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s Licence, Pool Operator Level 1 and Level 2 certificates (or equivalent), and a B.C. Refrigeration Operator certificate (or equivalent).

This is a regular full-time position for 37.5 hours per week, which may involve shift work including days, evenings and/or weekends.

The pay for this unionized regular full-time position starts at step 1, $33.86 and ranges up to $39.85 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefit package that includes enrolment into group life insurance, extended health, dental benefits, the Municipal Pension Plan upon eligibility, and the option of participating in the Earned Days Off program.

All candidates must be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position.
