The Ministry of Finance oversees taxation, revenue and government spending. The ministry supports the Treasury Board and Minister of Finance by providing financial and administrative services and leadership to government ministries, agencies, and the public. We support excellence in governance and public administration through economic, financial, and fiscal expertise, leadership and services.
The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance is responsible for administering several provincial tax programs including the Provincial Sales Tax, Liquor Consumption Tax, and Corporation Capital Tax.
The Audit Branch, Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance is currently seeking 1 term Audit Supervisor to join our team for 9 months or more. The position is located in Regina.
As an Audit Supervisor, you will have proven auditing and supervisory experience to lead a team of professional auditors. You will apply your knowledge and experience to identify, plan, and assign audits in a risk-based audit environment. You will also be responsible for reviewing major audits on provincial and inter-provincial businesses to ensure compliance of various provincial taxes. Utilizing problem solving, decision making, leadership, conflict management, and analytical skills you will effectively direct staff in analyzing and completing audits, and you will provide explanations to your team of auditors when reviewing their audit plans and completed audits with the goal to develop the auditor's knowledge and skills. In order to provide effective service and ensure individual, client, and organizational goals are met, you will provide explanations to taxpayers of their audit results and gain concurrence and acceptance of audit assessments. Participation in the development, evaluation, coordination and implementation of computerized audit procedures is also required. You will also have knowledge of human resource management principles and practices.
The successful candidate may be required to travel in province and out of province.
The knowledge required for this position is typically obtained through attainment of a professional accounting designation such as a CPA and several years of experience in auditing in a tax compliance environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
