Role Description The Produce Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the produce department in an on-site, full-time role located in Chilliwack, BC. Day-to-day tasks include planning and organizing department operations, maintaining product quality and freshness, and ensuring food safety standards are consistently met. The role involves managing inventory levels, coordinating orders, setting up displays and merchandising, and monitoring shrink and waste. The Produce Manager leads, trains, and schedules team members, supports a positive and inclusive work environment, and responds to customer inquiries to provide knowledgeable, friendly service. The role also requires collaboration with store leadership to meet sales targets, implement promotions, and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient department.

Qualifications

Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with shoppers and support a welcoming store experience. Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, team members, and store leadership. Experience with inventory control and inventory management, including ordering, stock rotation, and loss prevention. Knowledge of food safety practices, including handling, storage, and sanitation requirements for fresh produce. Previous experience in grocery, retail, or produce department operations is an asset. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team supervision, coaching, and scheduling. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Basic math and computer skills for ordering, reporting, and tracking departmental performance. Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, such as lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in refrigerated environments, with reasonable accommodations as needed.
