The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General provides a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan, promotes safe and secure communities, and provides legal and justice policy advice to the government.
The Courts and Community Justice Division has a career opportunity for a highly motivated, innovative and team-focused individual who has strong leadership capabilities for the position of Manager in the Regina Provincial Court Office.
Reporting to the Director of Provincial Court Operations and as a member of an integrated management team, the successful candidate will:
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Provincial Court and ensure effective and efficient administrative, financial and budget operations, including planning and leading the delivery of goals, objectives, and resources needed to administer, operate and maintain a large provincial court office.
- Liaise with the Judges of the Provincial Court with respect to the scheduling of court sittings.
- Manage and operate the Court office, ensure quality service to its clients, and provide guidance to the public and legal professionals on court processes.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Court Security as needed to ensure courtroom safety, decorum and etiquette are maintained.
- Ensure staff are knowledgeable and trained in court-related legislation, policy and procedures including the issuance and/or receipt of court documents as well as collecting and accounting for funds and fees received by the court.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Effective leadership and coaching skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated accountability, flexibility and adaptability in order to meet new challenges in a changing environment.
- Strong judgement and discretion, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge and experience with legislation, programs and processes of the court system, specifically in relation to criminal, family and civil processes.
- Knowledge of financial management, human resource management, and government decision-making processes.
As a successful candidate, you must demonstrate good character in order to maintain the integrity of the justice system and the people it serves and ensure confidentiality within and outside the place of work in accordance with your Oath of Office.
Typically, the successful candidate will have several years of management experience. The knowledge for this position would be gained through a relevant degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
