Site Overview: Mapleview Centre, or simply Mapleview, is a two-story shopping mall located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. It is located at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Fairview Street, south of the Queen Elizabeth Way. The name of the mall comes from the two streets in which it is located.
Position: Full-Time Assistant Supervisor
Site: Mapleview Shopping Centre, 900 Maple Ave, Burlington, ON L7S 2J8
Hours: Wed, Thur, & Fri (1400-2200) Sat & Sun (1100-1900)
Payrate: $21.87/hr.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is ESA

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the Site Supervisor in supervising security operations, ensuring staff are carrying out their duties as required
- Take full responsibility for the site during shifts when the Site Supervisor is not on duty
- Ensures the safety, security, and comfort of all patrons, tenants, and staff by maintaining a strong security presence and responding effectively to incidents and emergencies
- Act as the primary contact for mall management, security staff, and emergency services during assigned shifts
- Communicate any concerns, incidents, or operational issues to the Site Supervisor or Operations Manager in a timely manner
- Ensure guards are positioned appropriately and that all post orders and patrols are being followed
- Monitor compliance with mall rules, property standards, and applicable legislation (e.g., Trespass to Property Act)
- Lead or assist with shift briefings and updates for on-duty staff
- Respond to and manage incidents including theft, disturbances, medical emergencies, and fire alarms
- Conduct patrols of mall property, including parking lots and service areas, and ensure a safe and secure environment
- Oversee incident reporting and ensure reports are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner
- Monitor CCTV and access control systems and respond to any unusual or suspicious activity
- Provide coaching and guidance to security staff, promoting high standards of professionalism and customer service
- Assist with Fire & Life Safety inspections, alarm tests, and evacuation drills
- Enforce access control and support line management and crowd control during peak periods or events
- Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or management
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License and First Aid CPR, and AED certification
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a security setting, preferably in retail or mall
- Valid G-Class driver’s license with last 3 years of clean driver’s abstract required
- Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage incidents calmly under pressure
- Strong understanding of emergency procedures, report writing, access control, and CCTV/electronic security systems
- Degree in Police Foundations, Protection & Security, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
