How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Coordinator, Government and Community Relations (Waterfront, City of Toronto, and Durham Region) works with the Senor Manager and CEO’s Office to administer and track engagement with public sector partners and elected officials. This includes the preparation of agendas, meeting minutes, presentation materials, tracking documents and briefings to coordinate and advance TRCA initiatives in coordination with the Senior Leadership Team.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and prepares daily schedules of meetings, agendas and minutes for team members and management, provides briefs on any special visits, committees or additional documentation/files that are pertinent for meeting preparation
  • Supports the preparation and development of presentations and corresponding materials; presents as requested
  • Supports overall stakeholder engagement, events coordination and sources fund development opportunities in support of TRCA’s overall business objectives
  • Supports the engagement and communication efforts on major initiatives involving municipal and stakeholder consultation
  • Builds trust and encourages accountability; ensures messages are clear and concise and that takes perspective into account when communicating with stakeholders
  • Supports the coordination of cross-divisional responses to inquiries from partners and elected officials
  • Tracks communications and requests from elected officials and Board Members in support of TRCA’s mandate, ensuring responses are sent; this includes closely following protocols related to elected official and Board of Director communications
  • Tracks and prepares updates on municipal council agendas and projects of interest within TRCA jurisdiction, sending updates to managers
  • Ensures the Management team receives relevant information on their constituencies
  • Supports in the development and securement of MOUs and SLAs as part of the corporate effort to formalize relationships with stakeholders as required

What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Planning, Public Administration, Communications, Environmental Studies, Political Science, or a related discipline
  • Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in partnership and stakeholder development and engagement; and/or an environmental sustainability role

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
  • Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint
