L’AFRIKANA is a refugee-led organization based in Nairobi, Kenya, dedicated to transforming refugee potential into leadership, opportunity, and sustainable development impact. Founded on lived experience, L’Afrikana believes that refugees are not only beneficiaries of aid but key actors in shaping solutions to the challenges they face. Our work focuses on advancing education, livelihoods, and inclusive policy dialogue for refugees and host communities. Through initiatives such as the Pathways to Education Program (PEP), L’Afrikana supports refugee youth with access to education, skills development, and mentorship opportunities that strengthen their capacity to pursue dignified and self-reliant futures. We also implement community-based initiatives that empower women, youth, and vulnerable groups with knowledge, practical skills, and pathways to economic participation. In addition to direct community programming, L’Afrikana creates platforms that connect grassroots realities with policy and institutional engagement. Our flagship convening, the Talk to Talk Forum, brings together refugee-led organizations, policymakers, researchers, private sector actors, and development partners to explore collaborative solutions for refugee inclusion and sustainable migration governance. Operating at the intersection of community leadership and policy dialogue, L’AFRIKANA works to ensure that refugee voices inform the decisions that affect their lives. We actively collaborate with civil society organizations, academic institutions, government stakeholders, and international partners to strengthen refugee-led leadership and build inclusive responses to displacement. As we expand our work, we're seeking partnerships with philanthropic organizations, foundations, research institutions, and corporate partners who share our vision of a future where refugees are empowered contributors to society. Together, we can transform lived experience into leadership, innovation, and lasting impact.
