About the role

The Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation (MCCC) plays a vital role in supporting arts and culture across Winnipeg and the province. MCCC achieves this by providing facilities and facility management for several prominent venues, including the Manitoba Museum and Planetarium & Science Gallery, the Centennial Concert Hall, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, the Tom Hendry (Warehouse) Theatre, Artspace, the Manitoba Production Centre, and four parking facilities.

MCCC directly manages both the Centennial Concert Hall, home to its resident companies the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Manitoba Opera, and Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the Manitoba Production Centre, a purpose-built studio supporting Manitoba’s growing film and television industry. The Centennial Concert Hall also hosts a wide variety of events, including performances by local talent, international artists, dance companies, and touring Broadway productions.

Your Role at MCCC

Reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities Services, the Groundskeeper is responsible for the year-round care and maintenance of MCCC’s outdoor spaces. This role helps ensure our grounds are clean, safe, and well maintained for staff, patrons, and visitors.

You’ll take on a mix of hands-on landscaping work, seasonal maintenance, and coordination with contractors and support staff. From maintaining green spaces in the summer to keeping walkways safe in the winter, your work plays an important role in how our facilities are experienced every day.

What You’ll Do

Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping

  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, tractors, blowers, edgers, and pressure washers
  • Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges, and maintain lawns, flowers, and planted areas
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides safely and in line with regulations
  • Maintain water features, lighting, and other outdoor elements
  • Keep walkways, lawns, and parking areas clear of debris and litter

Seasonal Maintenance & Snow Removal

  • Perform and oversee snow and ice removal from entrances, sidewalks, and parking areas
  • Use snow removal equipment and materials such as shovels, blowers, and salt
  • Coordinate with contractors and confirm work is completed as expected

Team & Facility Support

  • Provide guidance and support to helpers or casual staff
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist with event setups, furniture movement, and general facility support as needed
  • Support indoor maintenance or custodial work when required

Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Grade 12 education with horticultural training or at least 3 years of landscaping or grounds maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide use; applicator license is an asset
  • Ability to identify and care for trees, shrubs, lawns, and plants
  • Experience safely operating landscaping equipment and tools
  • Comfortable supervising others and working as part of a team
  • Ability to manage supplies and keep basic records
  • Physically capable of working outdoors in all seasons
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Physically active role involving lifting, bending, walking, and equipment operation
  • Exposure to landscaping chemicals and varying environments
  • Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Use of personal protective equipment when required
