About the Role
Our client is seeking a Data Transfer & Archiving Specialist to support the secure movement and preservation of large research datasets between internal systems, partner institutes, and cloud environments. This role requires strong command-line proficiency, attention to detail, and familiarity with data transfer or archiving tools in Linux-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Encrypt and securely transfer data between on-premises environments, partner institutions, and cloud platforms.
- Verify completeness and integrity of transferred data against internal systems.
- Confirm data handoff with stakeholders and document all transfer activities thoroughly.
- Work closely with research, IT, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth data migration and compliance.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with Linux and command-line operations.
- Experience running SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow verification protocols.
- Experience with rsync , Globus Connect , GCP Archive , or Amazon Glacier is an asset.
- Familiarity with checksum verification tools (e.g., md5sum, sha256sum) is an advantage.
