The Opportunity

The Institute is seeking an
Event Planner

to support the planning and execution of its events and programming. Reporting to the Director of Development and Member Relations, the Event Planner will play a key role in organizing events, from concept to completion. This includes coordinating logistics, managing vendors and budgets, overseeing on-site execution, and ensuring a seamless experience for attendees. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

You will

  • Flawlessly execute approximately 40 events a year

  • Follow high quality event standards set by C.D. Howe Institute

  • Ensure that all events are well-attended

  • Contribute to the implementation of new event programming and strategy

  • Special projects and tasks as needed and assigned by the Director of Development and Member Relations.

The Candidate

Must-haves

  • 2 - 4 years’ experience in event planning and logistics or similar experience
  • Interest in putting together world-class events
  • Strong administration skills
  • Confident communicator
  • Flexible thinker and problem solver
  • Deep attention to details
  • Ability to follow established processes and adhere to standards
  • Customer service
  • Organized, diligent, and proactive team player
  • Interest in and understanding of Canadian public policy
  • MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher

Nice-to-haves

  • Hospitality background

  • Previous CRM experience (C.D. Howe Institute uses Salesforce)

  • Cvent, Pardot, Cisco WebEx

  • Bilingual (English – French)
