The Opportunity Dillon’s Civil Infrastructure technical group is looking for a Junior Construction Observer in Windsor to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work in the field on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
Responsibilities A s a Junior Construction Observer , you will assist our project managers on-site, ensuring that construction aligns with approved designs and specifications. Your key duties will include:
- Site Inspection: Conducting regular site inspections of municipal and land development projects.
- Documentation: Preparing detailed daily inspection reports, documenting work progress, site conditions, labor, and equipment usage.
- Quality Assurance: Monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
- Coordination: Liaising with contractors, project managers, and municipal representatives to address site issues and report on progress.
- Safety Compliance: Observing and reporting on-site health and safety practices to ensure a secure working environment.

- Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
- Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications What you will need to succeed
- A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology would be an asset.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and contract specifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and on-site coordination.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address construction issues promptly.
- Ability to operate survey rod and level is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Able to keep organized notes related to daily site activities, contractor equipment used, quantities and document with photos.
- Valid Canadian drivers’ license.
Experience
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in construction inspection, preferably on municipal infrastructure or land development projects.
- Working knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial standards and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of contract administration services and requirements.
- Knowledge of municipal servicing standards and environmental approvals requirements.
