Registered Midwive
About the role
Huckleberry Midwives is an Indigenous led midwifery team offering culturally relevant full spectrum urban Indigenous midwifery care on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) known as Vancouver. Over the last few years we have built a team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous/Setter midwives. Our work is always Indigenous led, informed, and guided and we hope to expand our team.
Ideally we are looking for a Registered Midwife who is interested in covering a parental leave for 1 year, with longer term possible and we are flexible to negotiation. Currently, our schedule offers a mix of shorter call stretches 24-48 hours. We have 3 clinic days a week, typically 9-4pm. Our team meets monthly for case reviews and team planning.
Our privileges are held at BC Women’s Hospital (Level 1) with specialized recognition for our role in Urban Indigenous Midwifery Outreach Program (UIMOP)which includes additional Out of catchment exceptions. Our team is active in the anti-racist working committee (ARC) and often collaborates with the Indigenous Health department including elders and patient navigators.
If you are interested, please email us a CV, estimated available start date, and letter of introduction as soon as possible.
