About the role

Empowering lives, healing hearts, embracing future The Data Platform Administrator plays a key role within the Data Management team, with primary responsibility for administering and optimizing enterprise data platforms to support scalable analytics and AI/ML initiatives across the healthcare ecosystem. This position focuses on stabilizing and modernizing the organization's data infrastructure and ensures that data services are secure, performant, and aligned with evolving business needs.

Your Mission Platform Stabilization & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure reliability, performance, and security of SQL Server, Azure SQL and Fabric environments.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve production issues using advanced diagnostic tools (e.g., Extended Events, DMVs, Query Store).
  • Develop standards, best practices and runbooks to provide knowledge transfer to IT Operations for repeatable issue resolution.
  • Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, and resource utilization for cost-effective scaling.

Platform Security, Auditing & Compliance

  • Define and enforce role-based access controls and least privilege standards.
  • Implement data protection techniques including encryption, masking, object-level security and row-level security.
  • Configure and manage auditing frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Maintain data retention and access controls to support audit readiness.

Platform Modernization & Data Ops Enablement

  • Lead the design and implementation of Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse architecture.
  • Migrate on-premises data to Fabric and integrate with Azure and other enterprise data sources.
  • Collaborate with data teams to support scalable modeling and analytics.
  • Implement and manage DataOps workflows using tools such as Azure DevOps and ServiceNow to support automated deployment, monitoring, and incident management across the data platform.

Advanced Optimization & AI/ML Enablement

  • Optimize Fabric high-throughput workloads and unstructured data.
  • Implement strategies for file management including partitioning, compaction, and indexing.
  • Enable data virtualization to expose OneLake data to Fabric DW, Power BI, and AI workloads without duplication.
  • Support integration of master data management (MDM) and governance frameworks.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with analytics, BI, and application teams to align database usage with business and technical goals.
  • Provide responsive support for production incidents and performance bottlenecks.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and training materials for internal stakeholders.

What You Bring To The Table

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Data Platform Engineer, preferably in the healthcare industry.

  • Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, and SQL Server for enterprise data solutions and analytics workloads.

  • Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning, including indexing, query optimization, and execution plan analysis to ensure high-performance database operations.

  • Hands-on experience with modern data integration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or other ETL/ELT platforms) for building scalable data pipelines. o Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling, and design of star and snowflake schemas to support analytical reporting.

  • Experience with cloud environments (Azure preferred) and CI/CD workflows for database deployments.

  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, pharmacy) is a strong asset.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance requirements in healthcare.

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills with a strong focus on data accuracy, integrity and quality.

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive healthcare data.

  • Adaptable and open to change, with a willingness to continuously learn and improve.

  • English proficiency is required for this position to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation: At BioScript, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location.
