This position requires 99.5 days of instruction from the end of August until the end of June. Exact days of work will be determined by the scheduling system.

Instructors may be required to teach other classes within arts and sciences as needed.

Job Duties

Provide instruction in chemistry, general science, and mathematics classes to students enrolled in a variety of post-secondary programs. Other courses may be assigned as needed. Practice good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Plan and deliver content and learning activities that reflect the values, beliefs, needs, and contributions of a culturally diverse community. Utilize LMS for in person, online, and blended course delivery. Manage the classroom and activities to ensure an optimal learning environment using an outcome-based approach. Respond to and accommodate the special learning needs of students, including equity groups and diverse learners. Use appropriate evaluation methods, record student progress, and provide feedback. Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content. Follow academic regulations and policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent “team” environment. Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with industry and educational requirements. Attend staff, program, and school meetings.

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities And Experience

Specific Accountabilities Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

A four year Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent, with sufficient classes in chemistry to constitute a major (U of S/U of R standards) Two years’ recent/relevant business/industry work experience or post-secondary work experience. Welcomes, values, and practices diversity, equity inclusion and Indigenous reconciliation within everyday work interactions. Effective communication skills (written and oral). Effective interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills. Effective instructional ability. Ability to arrange, maintain and evaluate resources. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
