Immigration and Compliance Specialist ( 6 Month Contract)

As a member of the EDI & Talent team, the Immigration and Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring Bayshore’s compliance with immigration regulations and supporting a seamless experience for employees. This role will establish, maintain, and improve processes for managing immigration programs, provide training to local HR teams, and act as the primary point of contact for immigration-related initiatives across multiple locations.
Duties And Responsibilities Immigration Program Administration
- Process supporting documentation for employer-led immigration programs, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Register Bayshore for new provincial immigration programs as required.
- Conduct compliance audits on provincial immigration streams to ensure adherence to regulations.
- Manage work permit reporting to maintain legal compliance and accurate records.
- Liaise with legal consultants and employees to ensure complete and accurate information and proper interpretation of immigration laws.
- Stay current with new immigration routes and changes to existing programs to maintain legal compliance.
- Ad hoc project as required.
Stakeholder Communication & Support
- Communicate consistently with employees and local HR business representatives, to ensure clear and accurate messaging.
- Provide guidance and support to HR colleagues on immigration-related queries and compliance requirements.
Process Design & Documentation
- Develop and maintain reference guides, process documentation, and training materials for HR teams.
- Maintain Bayshore’s immigration resource library/site to ensure content is accurate and up to date.
Training & Capacity Building
- Deliver training sessions for companywide HR team members on immigration processes and policies.
- Act as a subject matter expert for immigration compliance across the organization.
Reporting Relationships
The Immigration and Compliance Specialist will report directly to the Director, Employee Experience
Work Location : Bayshore Healthcare, National Office, Mississauga ON
Hybrid – At least 2 days onsite weekly
This Role is a 6 month Contract with possibility of extension! Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
- CHRP designation (completed or in progress) preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of HR experience in coordination or advisory roles, preferably with exposure to Employee Relations, Labour Relations, or Immigration.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of Canadian immigration regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and solve complex problems.
- Excellent research and process improvement skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional customer service orientation and professionalism.
- Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; HRIS experience (PeopleSoft) preferred.
- A track record of exercising professionalism and confidentiality always
Working Conditions
This role performs in a normal business environment with minimal needs for physical effort. The working environment has minimal discomfort with little safety risk. High sensory attention is inherent in this role. Some projects and deadlines may increase the sensory attention due to the increased focus and additional hours required. Minimal travel required for this role.
