- Starting wage of $44.00/hour, 24 hours per week and day shift hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm **
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Infusion Nurse to provide high-quality home infusion therapy services to patients in the Halifax and Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia areas. This role involves administering intravenous medications, monitoring patient responses, and educating patients and their families on treatment plans.
Role Responsibilities:
- Administer intravenous medications and other prescribed therapies in patients' homes, following established protocols and physician orders.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical assessments and review of medical history, to ensure safe and effective treatment.
- Monitor patients closely for adverse reactions or complications during and after infusions, and intervene appropriately as needed.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient care activities, including assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient education.
- Educate patients and their families on their specific infusion therapy, including medication purpose, administration techniques, potential side effects, and self-care strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of services.
- Maintain strict adherence to professional nursing standards, company policies, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage and maintain infusion equipment and supplies, ensuring proper functionality and inventory levels.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in infusion therapy.
Position Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the province of Nova Scotia.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in IV therapy, infusion therapy, or critical care nursing preferred.
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification an asset.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education abilities.Ability to work independently and manage a fluctuating caseload effectively.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and safety.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel within the Halifax and Lower Sackville areas.
- Ability to lift and carry medical equipment up to 25 lbs.
