**Location -**This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square.
Reporting to the Manager, Information Services in Development and Alumni Relations, the Business Analyst is responsible for ensuring our systems and processes effectively support the University's alumni engagement, philanthropic, and stewardship imperatives. This role leads the lifecycle of business processes and systems projects, from requirements gathering and solution design to testing, documentation, and change management. A primary focus is ensuring the functionality of the University’s foundational fundraising and alumni engagement ERP system, which contains over 400,000+ alumni and donor records, by managing everything from gap analysis and custom reporting to supporting data analytics that drive strategic decision-making. Additionally, the Business Analyst independently leads small-to-mid-sized technical projects, provides critical support for Information Services initiatives, and ensures all advancement operations maintain strict compliance with federal and provincial regulations (e.g., POPA, CASL).

Business Process Optimization: Leads the continuous analysis, design, and implementation of optimized business processes and software solutions in support of all campus advancement units, coordinating system updates and user testing.

Advancement Projects: Manages the full lifecycle of advancement technology projects, utilizing best practices for requirements gathering, project scoping, solution design, change management, and internal client communication.

Custom Reporting Support: Drives custom report development within the Advancement ERP system or data visualization software by translating user needs into detailed technical specifications, coordinating quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT), and maintaining report documentation.

Data Integration & Integrity: Oversees complex, large-scale data uploads (e.g., from PeopleSoft and external vendors) and data correction initiatives, taking responsibility for data mapping, error resolution, and ensuring strict data quality standards.

Undergraduate degree required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Project management experience.

Certificate in Business Analysis. CBAP or PMI-PBA certification is an asset.

5 years directly related experience.

Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated commitment to providing client-focused service.

Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to know when to refer problems to others and how to access external expertise as required.

Ability to maintain focus under pressure and meeting strict deadlines for work completion.

Computer proficiency in Google applications, or Microsoft equivalent

Expert knowledge of Ellucian Advance ERP system; working knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, HCM, and Financials modules.

Knowledge of CASE practices; experience working in a fundraising environment.

Knowledge/experience in interpreting and applying POPA, spam, lobbying and other legislation

Knowledge/experience with University of Alberta policies and procedures.
