Your Opportunity:
Located at the LHHW, responsible for working with gynecology, oncology, and postpartum patients, and performing a variety of nursing duties and administering safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. The incumbent will care for a variety of patients including day surgery, acute gynecology/oncology, postpartum mothers, and patients undergoing genetic terminations of pregnancy. A thorough understanding of gynecology, oncology or postpartum is an asset. The incumbent must demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and consider the Essential Habits as set forth by the Royal Alex Way in daily interactions with colleagues, patients, and visitors. 3East and 2 South are fast paced areas providing healthcare to women undergoing gynecological procedures, assessments, and treatments. Day surgery provides care to 15-30 elective surgery patients as well as emergency cases daily. Inpatient unit can accommodate 28 patients for investigation and care. Orientation will be established based on experience. This position requires the ability to meet the physical demands associated with nursing duties in an acute hospital unit setting. These include but are not limited to: Frequent pushing and pulling of equipment or patients. Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the shift. Regular bending, kneeling, twisting and reaching. Ability to lift, move, or assist patients and equipment weighing up to 40–50 pounds. Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning- modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and CPR (BCLS from the Heart and Stroke Foundation) are required. Applicants must have recent experience in an acute care setting, specifically in surgical or day surgery environments. Successful completion of a medication exam is required at the time of interview.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current IV certification and central line skills are preferred. Experience providing acute gynecological surgery or medical care preferred. Experience providing postpartum care and experience with breastfeeding teaching preferred. Close observation and charge nurse experience is an asset.
