This position is targeted to a mid-career clinician investigator with a practice profile of approximately 70% clinical care and 30% research.
The successful candidate will play a leadership role in advancing regional and remote cardiovascular care, with a particular focus on strengthening partnerships and developing sustainable clinical and academic programs with regional hospitals across Eastern Ontario and on providing and coordinating specialized cardiology services for patients in Nunavut. The Chair will assume the role of Qikiqtaaluk Cardiology Program Lead, a long-standing program delivering cardiology care to residents of the Qikiqtaaluk (Baffin) Region.
In this role, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with regional partners, Indigenous organizations, and community stakeholders, with an emphasis on culturally respectful care, relationship-building, and the co-development of care models that respond to the needs of northern and remote populations.
The successful candidate will be based at UOHI, Canada’s largest and foremost heart health centre, which provides tertiary and quaternary cardiovascular care to patients from 16 hospitals in Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and across Canada. UOHI employs more than 1,600 healthcare professionals and supports more than 245,000 patient encounters annually. The Division of Cardiology is internationally recognized for excellence in clinical care, education, and research.
In addition to state-of-the-art catheterization (4) and electrophysiology (4) labs, a dedicated cardiac imaging facility with PET, MRI, CT, SPECT and echocardiography imaging, core facilities include 96 inpatient ward beds, an intensive cardiac care unit (ICCU) with 14 beds, an intensive cardiac surgery unit (CSICU) with 27 beds, a Day Unit with 36 beds, a Step-Down Unit with 17 beds, within which is nested a Structural Procedure Unit of 6 beds.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a Division of approximately 50 cardiologists at UOHI. Clinical responsibilities will primarily focus on the delivery of comprehensive cardiology care, with an emphasis on regional outreach and remote practice. This includes:

- Leading and further developing cardiology programs in partnership with regional hospitals, including the establishment of shared-care models, outreach clinics, virtual care initiatives, and educational collaborations.
- Serving as Qikiqtaaluk Cardiology Program Lead, overseeing and delivering cardiology care to patients in Nunavut through a combination of in-territory clinics, telemedicine, and coordinated referral pathways to UOHI.
- Working collaboratively with Indigenous partners, regional health authorities, and multidisciplinary teams to support equitable access to cardiovascular care and to foster respectful, sustainable clinical partnerships.
- Collaborating with hospital partners and health system stakeholders to enhance access, quality, and continuity of cardiovascular care for regional and remote populations.
The major aims and objectives of this position and program are to:
