Required

  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario,
  • Completed Post Graduate Operating Room Certificate,
  • Current CPR or BCLS certificate
  • Minimum of 2 years’ operating room experience in the last 5 years
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Available to work all shifts (days, evenings, weekends) and on call duty
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work independently and have strong organizational skills
  • Must have satisfactory work performance and attendance in present position
  • Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis PDA available to review),
  • Medical Surveillance is required for personnel routinely working with mechanical equipment and the class of lasers used in the OR. A hearing test and eye exam must be arranged

Duties

  • Utilizes the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
  • Provides preoperative teaching to patients & families as required
  • Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care in the operating room environment
  • Responsible to work collaboratively with other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.
  • Maintains nursing records.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Quinte Health provides a wide range of high quality health care services to 160,000 people living in the 7000 square kilometre region of Prince Edward and Hastings Counties and the southeast portion of Northumberland County.
