POSITION OVERVIEW

The Platform Owner – Data Pipelines guides a team of data engineering specialists and analysts in the development and optimization of data pipelines. S/he serves as the primary liaison between stakeholders and other squad members, ensuring that the team has a clear understanding of requirements and priorities and deliver high-quality data solutions that align with business objectives and the overall realization of BDC’s Data and AI strategy.

Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of data processing workflows, enabling the organization to leverage data for strategic decision-making and operational excellence.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Participate in the triage of Demands made to the Data Platform Team.
  • Define and prioritize the squad backlog, ensuring that the squad focuses on delivering value through the development of data pipelines and related solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration within the squad, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of the squad, ensuring that deliverables meet quality standards and are completed on time.
  • Resolve or escalate issues that affect the squad’s ability to effectively deliver solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on processes that surround the development and delivery of data pipelines, providing guidance and support to the team on how to engage with members of data Governance, Compliance, Legal, Risk Management and Information Security.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to align data pipeline initiatives with broader organizational goals and strategies.
  • Conduct regular reviews and retrospectives to assess the squad's performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and analytics, ensuring the squad remains competitive and innovative.
  • Champion data governance practices and ensure compliance with data management policies throughout the data pipeline development process.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in product ownership or project management, preferably in a data engineering or analytics context.
  • Strong understanding of data pipeline concepts, ETL processes, and data governance practices.
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience in managing product backlogs and user stories.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering value to the organization.
  • Bilingual (French & English)
