COMMENCING: June 22, 2026 – July 31, 2026 (as scheduled)
COMPENSATION: $19.17 per hour
HOURS: 7 hours per day, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, half hour unpaid lunch period
JOB SUMMARY:
Bilingual casual summer program instructors are required to assist with all ASPIRE program activities. The ASPIRE program
strives to promote literacy and numeracy skills, along with recreational activities for Kindergarten- Grade 5 students. Duties
include planning, organizing, leading and supervising educational and recreational activities for a classroom of children. As well
as assisting with bussing and walking school bus, supervising field trips outside the school setting and aiding in breakfast & lunch
implementation. Some offers may also be made for on-call substitute casual summer program instructors. These positions
support the strategic actions of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

University Student enrolled in Bachelor of Education

Experience working with children in relevant settings including lesson and activity planning
-
Confident group and behaviour management skills
-
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret situations accurately and act accordingly
-
A positive attitude, outlook, and work ethic
-
Ability to develop good relationships with students on a one-to-one basis and in groups
-
Good organizational skills and ability to follow directions
-
Excellent interpersonal skills
-
Excellent verbal and written communications skills in both official languages (English and French) is a must for bilingual
positions.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.
- Respect In School or equivalent training is required.
- Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines.
- Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada.
