Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for two (2) casual position of Facility Duty supervisor for the Sackville Sports Stadium in the Parks division of Parks & Recreation.

Reporting to the Client Services Coordinator, the Facility Duty Supervisor is responsible for on-site evening/weekend support of various facility departments in programming, aquatics, administrative, and membership services. This position also provides monitoring of casual recreation staff, liaising with maintenance staff, equipment and inventory control, responding to phone and email, and providing front line customer service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors the day-to-day operations of casual part time staff and assists with training, coaching, scheduling, filling staff replacements, and onboarding.
  • Delivers friendly, quality customer service to both internal and external clients through emails, phone, and in-person interaction.
  • Performs various administrative tasks such as updating facility voicemail, data collection and entry, as required.
  • Monitors, patrols, and ensures safety of the facility, including but not limited to changing rooms, washrooms, weight room, parking lot and Centre grounds via a safe and approved method.
  • Responds to all security, first aid, and staff incidents within the facility. Completes incident/accident and security reports, verifies staff reports for accuracy, and submits to manager.
  • Reports facility deficiencies and safety concerns during regular patrols and conducts facility inspections when required
  • Responsible for opening, closing, and securing the building when required. In coordination with building operations and direct manager, assists with making delay and closure decisions such as Pool Fouling, power outages, weather and lost persons.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum three years’ experience working in a recreation, fitness or Aquatic Environment.
  • Minimum one year customer service experience dealing with the public.
  • Supervisory experience would be considered an asset.
  • Strong teamwork and customer services skills
  • Current Standard First Aid Certification and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or willing to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Current National Lifeguard and Swim For life instructor would be an asset.

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of recreation service delivery
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Legend or Xplor software

Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

WORK STATUS: Casual Part time

HOURS OF WORK: 15 - 35 hrs per week. Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule/overtime may be required.

SALARY: Non-union, $23.50 per hour

WORK LOCATION: Sackville Sports Stadium
