The Electrical Supervisor (Projects) serves as the lead project delivery resource for the Electrical Services unit. This individual will provide specific focus on project implementation, budgeting, scheduling and quality control, and will be a key resource to the Electrical Services unit and the Planning/ Design/Construction department. Supervision responsibilities may be shared with the Electrical Supervisor of Maintenance to supervise internal electricians performing installation/repair projects, as well as external consultants and contractors.
This will be a ‘hands-on’ position where the individual, when time permits, will perform duties of an Electrician, including after hours call response as required.
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinates, leads, and directs daily workflow for construction project implementation, including scheduling, budgeting, commissioning, work assignments, and quality control.
- Performs a full range of highly skilled, complex tasks to ensure timely and cost‑effective project execution on campus.
- Interprets and applies detailed technical guidelines, policies, and procedures to manage varied and complex work.
- Monitors safety, sets priorities, evaluates outcomes, and coordinates the work of others.
- Acts as either a lead site coordinator or a service provider to supervisors of other trades, depending on project needs.
- Collaborates extensively with other trades within Facilities Management and with external partners.
- Works directly with internal university clients to ensure strong customer service and alignment with campus and community needs.
- Serves as a working supervisor, performing all duties of a journeyperson electrician.

Position Requirements
What You’ll Bring to this Position:
- Successful completion of a Grade 12.
- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Electrical Journeyperson certificate and/or valid Interprovincial Electrical Journeyperson’s
- Minimum of seven years commercial and industrial experience.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
- Demonstrated experience in the operation of High Voltage distribution systems and industrial electrical construction and maintenance. Must have (Qualified Electrical Worker Certification).
- Knowledge and experience of methods, materials, tools, equipment, and procedures that apply to the mechanical trades and a general knowledge of electrical and structural maintenance used in building construction.
- Knowledge of principles and components found in electronic control and micro processing devices.
- Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
- Knowledge of Canadian Fire Code.
- Knowledge of Canadian Building Code.
- Certified Fire Alarm Technician qualifications will be an asset
- Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate the operations of Electrical Crew.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Employee development and performance management skills.
- Knowledge and skill of Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Excel.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
- Skill in budget preparation and management.
- Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
- Ability to resolve technical and staff problems as appropriate.
- Ability to effectively train others in technical procedures, techniques and skills.
- Ability to interpret, apply and enforce applicable codes and standards as related to electrical installation, maintenance and repair.
- Ability to identify and analyze electrical problems, formulate solutions and implement decision.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with staff, the general public, external consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and considerable heights.
- Knowledge of, understand and comply with University health and safety requirements, Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and all safe work procedures and practices applicable to the position.
- Ability to safely use safety equipment, machine guards, safety devices. All personal protective equipment must be used as appropriate.
- Ability to identify and report unsafe acts, workplace hazards, and incidents that result (or could result) in injury, illness, or environmental damage.
- Ability to work and encourage others to work and act safely.
Physical Demands
May be required to work overtime and weekends; may be required to work various shifts. Will be required to be on the call out schedule for emergency after hour calls. Physical activity is a primary part of the job. Requires the ability to lift, push or pull objects up to 50 pounds. Work will be performed at heights, in crawl spaces, on rooftops and will include the use of ladders and powered mobile lifts. Work involves exposure to unusual elements such as high voltage, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, chemicals, hazardous materials, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises. Work environment may involve exposure to potentially hazardous material and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and will include the use of personal protective equipment.
Pay Grade CUPE Phase 6 Salary Range $72,183.28 - $97,416.80 Status Permanent Work Hours
Normal hours Monday-Friday 08:00-16:30; call out is a part of this job. Hours of work may occasionally be altered for special projects.
