Total Rewards Consultant

Our broad public sector client is seeking a senior Total Rewards Consultant for a six-month engagement to lead the strategic development of total rewards and compensation frameworks.

In this role, you will design, develop, and lead enterprise-level total rewards strategies that support organizational growth, equity, and long-term sustainability. You will assess current compensation and benefits practices, lead market and internal reviews, and develop new frameworks, tools, and governance models. This role is focused on building foundational total rewards structures and guiding the organization through a period of change and growth.

You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic direction, recommendations, and leadership on compensation design, job evaluation, and compliance. The focus is on creating scalable, future-state solutions that can be implemented and sustained beyond the term of the engagement.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in total rewards, compensation, or HR advisory roles
  • Professional designation (CHRP, CHRL, CCP, CEBS or similar) preferred
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading compensation strategies, reviews, and transformation initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, job evaluation methodologies, and market benchmarking
  • Knowledge of HR-related legislation such as the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity Act, Human Rights Code, WSIB, and Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Strategic, analytical, and consultative mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, lead complex initiatives, and deliver results within defined timelines
