Job Description
CAWST is seeking a temporary Accountant to support our Finance team while a team member is on leave. In this role, you’ll help keep our daily accounting operations running smoothly, ensuring accuracy in payroll, reconciliations, expenses, and compliance reporting. Working closely with the Sr Manager, Finance, you’ll play a key role in supporting our mission-driven work during this 3-month term.
Please note that this is an in-office position, based in Calgary, AB. Only candidates with valid Canadian work authorization will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting and bookkeeping functions for CAWST, including reconciliation of semi-monthly payroll
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile financial statements and accounts, and ensure data accuracy.
- Expenses in SAP Concur (Travel expenses and Accounts payable)
- Petty cash reimbursements, special cheque requests
- Help to ensure compliance with CAWST policies and procedures
- Support the Sr Manager, Finance to ensure accurate and timely submission of GST returns
- Ensure all deductions and payroll activities are compliant with legislation
- Maintain fixed asset schedule and assist in balance sheet reconciliations
- Calculate variances against budget
- Other ad-hoc duties as required

- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- MS Business Central
Qualifications
- CPA designation or in progress (preferred)
- 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a non-profit or multi-faceted environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Collaborative team player who takes direction well
- Proficient in SAP Concur, ADP, MS Business Central, and Microsoft Excel
