About Us:

DASCH is a non-profit organization established in 1974 dedicated to exploring and meeting the residential, day program, respite and foster care needs of youth and adults. All our programs are based in Winnipeg. Our residential program consists of over 50 homes; our day services program consists of two-day programs and our educational program called DASCHWorks supports people in finding and maintaining meaningful employment. People can participate in personalized social, educational, vocational, and recreational services that provide learning opportunities and greater independence. Position Summary:

As part of the People Resources team, you will guide and shape safety and health programs throughout the company, oversee Workers' Compensation Board claims, and develop as well as track employee plans for returning to work. You’ll manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic setting, motivate and engage others to achieve safety goals, innovate and adapt to changing conditions while ensuring accountability for results.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a safety & health culture
  • Process WCB claims within statutory time limits and coordinate responses
  • Implement and monitor the return-to-work program
  • Ensure DASCH meets or exceeds all safety & health and accessibility legislative standards
  • Coordinate and oversee quarterly and annual safety inspections at all DASCH locations
  • Monitor and support the safety & health committee
  • Investigate workplace safety & health and respectful workplace incidents, and resolve refusal to work issues
  • Provide safety & health training at the supervisor and worker level
  • Collaborate with learning and development to identify training needs related to disability management and workplace safety & health
  • Update policies, procedures, and manuals as needed
  • Be flexible to new ideas, responsibilities and assignments
  • Receive support and guidance from the Chief Human Resources Officer

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience in a safety & health position preferred
  • Post-secondary degree in a health, human resources, or business-related field, degree/diploma in occupational health & safety
  • Knowledge of Manitoba safety and accessibility legislation, Workers Compensation Board, and return-to-work practices
  • CRSP designation an asset
  • Microsoft office proficiency
  • A valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle during work hours is required

Work Hours:

  • Full Time, 18-month term position
  • Monday to Friday working in the office and in the field

Wage: Annual salary starting at $46,000
