In This Role, You Will
- Direct daily activity of incoming inspection team members to meet quality/throughput/safety objectives
- Determine team capacity and schedule to meet QA inspection commitments
- Monitor and report progress against team and departmental goals
- Identify issues that prevent meeting of objectives and work with other departments to solve
- Ensure actions are identified and taken to monitor and improve inspection throughput and quality
- Identify tools and equipment required for mechanical inspection
- Develop inspection techniques and design inspection jigs and gauges
- Develop expertise in the use and programming of CMM equipment
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs)
- Work with our Suppliers collaboratively to resolve issues
- Own and support the site calibration process
- Communicate with local machining vendors to resolve issues and improve performance
- Participate in CI activities
- Direct (hands-on) inspection support as required
- Hold regular team meetings to facilitate communication, recognition and alignment on priorities
- Collaborate with team to establish team and individual goals in alignment with company priorities
- Facilitate individual and team success through regular performance feedback and career development conversations
- Use objective performance data to coach and deliver feedback against results and goals
- Provide career coaching, development opportunities and mentoring for team members
- Foster a reward and recognition culture by actively recognizing and celebrating individual and team successes and accomplishments
- Understand, communicate and promote company HR policies, programs and initiatives
- Lead, manage and support employees through new programs and/or change initiatives
- Identify talent needs and initiate recruitment in partnership with Operations leadership & HR
- Train and onboard new team members
- Proactively identify employee issues/concerns and engage with Operations leadership & HR for support
- Manage/approve team vacation and weekly timecards
- Work with other supervisors to flow resources and create opportunities for cross-training as needed

What You Bring
- 5+ years of relevant experience in both technical and people skills with a focus on progressive leadership. Technical diploma an asset.
- Experience working in ERP/MRB systems
- Proven abilities relating to training and supporting employee development.
- Ability to work in a team environment while focusing on independent work quality & schedules.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness and ability to meet challenging customer requirements and schedules.
- High attention to detail with ability to learn and multitask.
- Self-motivated and highly proactive work style with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency at reading and understanding engineering drawings.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Experience working within ISO or other quality system considered an asset.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products with a strong proficiency in Excel.
