SCOPE
Reporting directly to the Director of Investments and collaborating closely with the investment and sustainability advisors, while also serving as a backup to the Financial Analyst, the incumbent produces, analyzes and validates all financial information as it pertains to their portfolio as well as program and design concepts and systems. The incumbent also serves as a resource person in their area of expertise. Furthermore, the incumbent is expected to be a back-up to the advisors, on both investment and sustainability matters, as required by the Director.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide specialized advice and/or informed opinions to the Supervisor with respect to all investment programs within the Investments Portfolio in order to decide best course of action for optimizing financial returns, minimizing risks and reducing costs.
• Act as a redundancy resource for the Financial Analyst and the advisors.
• Perform financial quantification, analysis, stress testing simulations for any concentration of risks with respect to return targets and benchmarks.
• Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports, including supporting documents for periodic meetings, on financial status and risks of the overall Investment Portfolio.
• Build and maintain financial models to assist in portfolio construction/monitoring tasks and other value-added initiatives.
• Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve process and performance.
• Contribute to the portfolio reporting evolution to ensure relevance and usefulness to users in a fast-changing environment.
• Provide advanced analytics solutions to solve business problems by leveraging statistics, machine learning, generative AI, and optimization techniques. Ability to conduct self-directed research, typically using non-traditional resources to solve business problems.
• Drive process improvements using the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools and Excel dashboards.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of all operational tasks done by the team.
• Acting as a resource of broad-based investment and risk management knowledge to colleagues.
• Perform any other related duties as required by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Finance, Mathematics or a field related to the primary responsibilities with a minimum of two to four years of related work experience.
• Enrollment in the CFA Program, CAIA professional designation or other investment related certification as asset.
• Strong research, financial modeling, risk management and a thorough understanding of various investment valuation concepts
• Good understanding of computing and automation technologies and administrative and information systems.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate planning processes, direct and manage projects within established deadlines and parameters.
• Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English and good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken French.
• Very good knowledge of statistical analysis and programming software applications (Python, Matlab, R, etc.) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) as well as database architecture.
• Methodical and detailed oriented and strong analytical thinker.
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven customer focus and ability to analyze and solve difficult problems.
• Ability to collect and analyze large amounts of information and quickly grasp complex issues.
• Attention to detail and rigorous approach to research, analysis and documentation.
• Knowledge of Bloomberg an asset.
