Position Overview:
Primarily responsible for retaining good customer relationships, supporting customer machines and improving the operation and maintenance of mining equipment to Caterpillar OEM standards and specifications. In addition, the position is responsible for scheduling customer visits, resolving customer complaints and concerns and forecasting/supporting future customer requirements.
Job Description:
Major Job Functions:
- Responsible for scheduling customer visits, setting agendas and writing monthly reports on customer update
- Ensure timely delivery of items to mining customers
- Minimize downtime and maintain production requirements as scheduled
- Inspect parts for damage or excessive wear and tear using micrometers, gauges and other diagnostic tools
- Examine and diagnose machine defects, replace components when customers concerning any or all of the orders on a continual basis
- Must develop and maintain open lines of communication with all supportive departments
Specific Skills:
- Strong communication skills including verbal and written
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Contribute positively to a quality team environment
- Strong problem solving skills
- Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- A high attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Self-starter and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Desire to grow within the organization and adapt to change
Knowledge:
- Caterpillar equipment knowledge
- Mining background
- Mechanical aptitude
Experience:
- Seasoned HET or have significant mechanical experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a customer service role
Accountability:
- Ensure analysis and maintenance/repair recommendations are provided to appropriate groups in a timely manner.
- Provide solutions in a timely manner.
- Recommendation of safety solutions
- Rapid escalation with technical support of any machine down situations to appropriate individuals and/or groups
- Ensure that 80% of time is customer facing
- Objective measurement on accountabilities (scheduling activities)
- Accountable for building a library on all technical issues
- Machine availability
