Remote, preferably in British Columbia with some travel to project sites
Position Summary
Reporting to Database Geologist, your primary responsibility will be overseeing database design
and administration, data capture and validation workflows, integration of multi-source datasets,
and delivery of reliable datasets for interpretation and reporting. The role also leads QA/QC of
mineral analytical data (assays, geochemistry, lab deliverables), ensuring analytical integrity,
traceability, and compliance with internal standards and reporting requirements.
This position is ideal for a technically strong data professional who understands exploration
workflows and can partner effectively with geologists, field teams, labs, and external consultants.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management and Governance
- Maintain exploration databases (drillhole, geology, sampling, QA/QC, lab results)
- Implement data governance standards and manage user access/security
- Ensure database performance, reliability, and support system upgrades/integrations
Data Acquisition and Validation
- Oversee data ingestion from field teams, labs, contractors, and legacy sources
- Build and maintain workflows for data capture, validation, and chain-of-custody
- Perform data quality checks and resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders
Mineral Analytical Data QA/QC
- Support the team with QA/QC programs, including standards, blanks, duplicates, and umpire
assays and investigate any failures, and recommend corrective actions
- Monitor laboratory accuracy and precision using statistical tools
- Prepare QA/QC summaries for technical reporting
Data Delivery, Reporting and Visualization
- Produce curated datasets for modelling and interpretation
- Develop dashboards and recurring reports on sampling progress, turnaround times, and QA/QC
- Support internal and external reporting with consistent, auditable data
Systems, Tools, and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and improve sampling, shipment and lab import tools and templates
- Automate routine ETL and validation processes
- Develop SOPs, provide training, and manage vendor and laboratory relationships
Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geomatics, Data Science or related field
- 3-7+ years in data management and analytical QA/QC; mineral exploration exposure would be
an asset
- Strong experience with exploration datasets: drillhole, sampling, assays, geochemistry, geology
logs, and chain-of-custody workflows is a benefit. Demonstrated QA/QC expertise would be an
asset
- Highly detail oriented with a methodical, investigative approach to data validation, and
resolution of database discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while communicating effectively with
geologists, field teams, laboratories, and management.
- Experience with SQL and data validation principles would be an asset
- Proficiency in common exploration data tools: Access (legacy), Excel (advanced); QGIS,
Leapfrog, AcQuire exposure would be an asset
Schedule
Monday to Friday; some travel may be required on as needed basis.
