What you can expect from this position:

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager and/or Manager, Capital Projects/Development and/or Associate Director, this position provides various project, technical and contract administration support for the project planning, development, design, construction, and close-out of assigned projects, in accordance with project governance. The projects assigned will form part of the capital program which will include renovations and new construction of various projects in GTAA owned facilities such as air terminals, parking structures, office buildings, runways, aprons, utility services, hangers, and cargo and transit stations. The incumbent may also be required to lead small GTAA Capital projects and coordinate the purchase of fleet vehicles and equipment under the capital program.

As a Project Coordinator, you will:

  • Assist Senior Project Managers with assigned project management tasks through each phase of project delivery.
  • Assist with development of project requirements, vendor selection, project execution plans, scopes of work, and other project governance requirements to ensure technical excellence in design stages.
  • Maintain project controls (i.e., Financial, Schedule, Risks, Changes, Information Management) using established tools and reporting structures.
  • Monitor and analyze project performance against baselines or metrics and identify any trends.
  • Participate in project meetings with consultants, contractors, vendors, and partners, and prepare meeting minutes when needed.
  • Coordinate and assemble technical requirements for the purchase of fleet vehicles, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and construction related to capital projects, and stand-alone pieces of equipment; also includes pre-delivery inspection, inspections at delivery and equipment acceptance.
  • Conduct on-site reviews of construction progress, project compliance, and site issues/conditions. Attend site meetings as required.
  • Guide Tenants, Partners, Consultants and Contractors through various GTAA requirements and approval processes including but not limited to Facility Alteration Permits, Airside & Groundside permits, Activity Notices, and Shutdown Requests.
  • Maintain compliance with GTAA, industry safety requirements and other standards, guidelines and processes for project development.
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver small projects.

This unionized position is classified at the Band 7 Level, with an hourly wage of $45.97, based on a 37.5 hour work week.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • Experience in handling projects and knowledge of Project Delivery Process would be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of (2) years’ experience in Project Management and leading design and construction related contracts.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset.
  • Experience in a Customer Centric Environment.
  • A Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering, Engineering technology, Interior Design, Business, Finance, Commerce or Construction management and/or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance.

Knowledge and skills you bring, that set you up for success:

  • Knowledge of project management, design principles and practices, construction activities, commissioning, drawings and specifications, trends, and developments in the use of materials and project delivery techniques.
  • Knowledge of contracting procedures, project approval processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of related government legislation in the areas of construction, fire codes, building codes, occupational health and safety requirements, engineering codes.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external partners, Design Consultants, Contractors and Vendors.
  • Ability to deal with contractors, consultants, vendors and situations requiring a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to interpret contracts to find a solution and advance as necessary.
  • Knowledge of business computer applications (Microstation, Word, Excel, ProjectWise, and MS Project).
  • Must possess strong problem solving skills and demonstrate effective interpersonal abilities, customer service skills, time management skills, multitasking skills, communication and writing skills.
  • Must demonstrate tact and diplomacy, cooperativeness, and good judgment.
