Summary

We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Advisor, Spectrum Strategy . In this role, you will have the privilege of immersing yourself in the complex world of emerging wireless technologies through active participation in various initiatives. You will support a team that contributes to standards development, conduct meticulous research, participate in industry forums, foster collaborative vendor partnerships, and participate in hands-on testing activities. The knowledge gained from these various engagements will prove essential in developing a comprehensive strategic plan to be executed by our technology development teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term wireless technology roadmaps and spectrum plans.
  • Model the impact of introducing new technologies, considering factors such as spectral efficiency, cost savings, capacity gains and performance improvements.
  • Establish sizing assumptions that serve as inputs for network cost modeling and proof-of-concept testing.
  • Recommend changes to network planning tools to optimize budget planning.
  • Produce detailed guidance and technical documentation for the development of wireless technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership and support during regulatory consultations
  • Contribute to and influence the development of standards
  • Identify and quantify monetization and cost reduction opportunities
  • Keep abreast of global activities and the competitive environment
  • Establish synergies with other Bell teams
  • Build and present simplified technical messages to managers (technical and business teams)

Critical Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must possess a combination of technical expertise and strategic thinking:

  • At least 7-10 years of experience in wireless telecommunications, demonstrating your deep understanding of the industry.
  • A university degree in electrical engineering or systems design, reflecting your solid academic background.
  • Proven ability to make strategic recommendations on technological evolution, showcasing your thought leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of LTE and 5G radio systems, including modulation schemes, MIMO techniques, carrier aggregation, NR protocols, QoS and end-to-end network slicing.
  • Experience in global and/or Canadian industry, with involvement in 3GPP and ORAN being highly advantageous.
  • A holistic understanding of the radio, IP, transport, core network and cloud domains within the network architecture.
  • Familiarity with current and future end-to-end wireless network architectures and service enablers.
  • Exceptional technical leadership, time management and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills, enabling you to effectively convey complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proven expertise in influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving collaboration to achieve organizational objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

Although not mandatory, the following additional qualifications will further strengthen your suitability for the role:

  • A master's or doctorate degree in engineering, demonstrating your advanced academic achievements.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, simulation and modeling techniques.
  • Knowledge of virtualized RAN technologies such as ORAN, RIC xAPP, rAPP and Cloud RAN.
  • Good understanding of financial accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools such as MapInfo
  • Understanding of 3GPP

Additional Requirements

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
