About the role

Assiniboine Credit Union is hiring for the position of a Business Analyst I for a 7 months term to work at the PMO & Integration department.

About this opportunity:

  • This role requires to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

  • This role will be an hybrid position: some days working from home, and other days at the Head Office (540 St Anne's Rd, Winnipeg MB, R2M 5R7).

Reporting to the Manager, Business Analysis, the Business Analyst I serves as a strategic liaison between business units, IT/Digital teams, and vendors to ensure business and technical requirements are accurately defined and effectively delivered. This position leads business process redesign, translates business needs into functional specifications, and manages the full development lifecycle. As a key member of the team, the Business Analyst I engages in stakeholder management, drives informed decision-making, and supports change management.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support informed decision-making and efficient business processes through collaboration, analysis, and solution development.

  • Act as a strategic advisor between business units, IT/Digital, and vendors to identify business and technical requirements and deliver effective solutions.

  • Lead business process, redesign initiatives and document work products and deliverables.

  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and manage changes throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Support build-vs-buy decisions and facilitate user acceptance testing to validate that solutions meet expectations.

  • Engage in stakeholder interviews and workshops to identify opportunities, document issues, and develop recommendations that improve performance and cost-efficiency.

  • Develop business process implementation plans and support change management for both local and remote teams.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and effective solution delivery.

  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities in the business through reviews and assessments of current departmental processes.

  • Always maintain professional confidentiality and privacy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

The competencies for this position would typically be acquired through relevant post-secondary education in a related field, along with 3-5 years of job-related experience, ideally within the financial services sector. A recognized business analyst designation (CBAP) is required.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Key Occupational Skills

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to define problems, evaluate solutions, and turn business requirements into actionable insights.

  • Skilled at modeling business process and translating requirements into functional specifications.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a systems thinking approach to ensure integrated solutions that align with business goals.

  • Experience with business analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, user stories, process mapping).

  • Experience with cross-functional teams and driving projects to success.

  • Knowledgeable in emerging technologies and able to apply them to create effective business solutions.

  • Experience in project management and knowledge in Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is an asset.
