Director of Finance - Permanent - 18934 About The Opportunity Our client, a well-established non-profit organization in Ottawa, is seeking a Director of Finance to join their leadership team.
The Director of Finance plays a key leadership role and is responsible for ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organization. As a member of the senior leadership team, this individual provides strategic oversight of the finance and accounting functions while supporting budgeting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and long-term financial planning. This position will support the organization through an important period of growth and transformation.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all finance and accounting operations
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Lead annual corporate and property budgeting processes
- Oversee monthly financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Coordinate financial and regulatory reporting to funding and financing bodies
- Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
- Support long-term financial planning including capital reserve planning and financial modeling
- Identify financial risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies and insurance coverage
- Present financial reporting and recommendations to the Finance and Audit Committee and Board of Directors
- Oversee financial reporting for development projects and construction initiatives
- Lead and mentor members of the finance team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
- Support integration and effectiveness of financial systems and data across departments
- Represent the organization with external partners, regulators, and funding bodies
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational decision-making
About You The successful candidate will have the following:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
- Minimum 7 years of progressive finance experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning
- Experience leading external audits and working with auditors
- Demonstrated ability to provide financial guidance to senior leadership and boards
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring finance teams
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication, analytical, and presentation skills
About the Job
- Salary: $92,000 to $120,750
