Position Summary
Regular Part-Time Support Staff, replacement position
(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)
We require a qualified Educator to model the philosophy of the Conestoga College Early Learning Programs and maintain professional relationships with children, families, and Educators. The successful candidate implements quality programs for children aged 0-12 years old. Candidates are responsible for upholding the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and the Staff Handbook guidelines.
Successful candidates will support programming at the Driftwood Park Child Care Centre, located at 50 Parkland Crescent in Kitchener, on a regular part-time basis. The Educator will be scheduled Monday to Friday for nine hours per week from 7:20 a.m. to 9:05 a.m.
Responsibilities
- Plans and adapts the program/environment to meet the needs of individual children, and implements quality programming for children ages 0-12 years old
- Ensures that the basic needs of children are met, including health and safety
- Provides ongoing supervision of all play areas and all activities/routines that occur
- Communicates respectfully with parents and ensures that messages are passed on to both parents and other staff
- Ensures that any unusual situations are shared with the Supervisor
- Attends staff meetings, contributes to team discussions, and participates in professional development that is made available
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Two-year Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services, or Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT), or Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), or two-year Child and Youth Care Diploma required
- Standard First Aid and CPR training required
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and up to date immunization records required
