About the role
Summary The Shipping/Receivng Team Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Shift including Forklift, Palletizers and Stack Movers. Reporting to the Site Shipping Leader, you will support and improve Shipping operations by becoming the expert on all the shipping tasks at your site. As a working Team Lead, you will be required to jump in and work on a forklift, palletizer and as a stack mover as required in addition to leading the shift by example.
Pay Rate: $28.38/hr
Location : Etobicoke, ON.
Shift: Day Shift
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and oversee all Shipping and Receiving operations to ensure safe, accurate, and timely movement of finished goods, ingredients, and packaging materials.
- Ensure full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety, Health & Safety, and all company policies and procedures within the shipping and receiving areas.
- Plan and manage daily shipping schedules, coordinating closely with Production, Scheduling, Dispatch, and Transportation to meet customer and distribution center requirements.
- Ensure trailers, dock doors, and yard space are available and efficiently utilized to support production output and dispatch timelines.
- Oversee accurate system transactions in SAP/FIT 2.0, ensuring all Goods Receipts, Goods Issues, COAs, lot numbers, and shipping documentation are correctly captured.
- Maintain a 100% fill rate for bakery orders by proactively managing inventory availability and coordinating schedule adjustments with Production and Planning teams.
- Manage all released packaging and finished goods Process Orders, ensuring correct POs are used for appropriate production runs and shipments.
- Monitor freezer, cooler, and dry warehouse inventory, ensuring proper storage conditions, accurate counts, FIFO compliance, and timely STO shipments.
- Verify all outbound shipments and associated paperwork prior to release to ensure accuracy, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee receiving operations, including inspection of inbound materials, verification of quantities, quality checks, and timely put-away.
- Ensure ingredient and packaging refills are completed accurately and on time to support uninterrupted production.
- Communicate shortages, delays, damages, or discrepancies promptly to Supply Planning, Dispatch, Production, and Bakery Leadership.
- Track, analyze, and report daily and weekly shipping and warehouse KPIs, driving continuous improvement and corrective actions where required.
- Ensure shipping and receiving housekeeping standards are consistently maintained and audit-ready.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to material handling equipment (dock doors, forklifts, pallet wrappers, conveyors, robots, auto-stackers etc.).
- Ensure all warehouse equipment is used safely, maintained properly, and operated by certified personnel only.
- Conduct regular inventory cycle counts and lead investigations into variances, losses, or damages
- Lead Shift huddles daily
- Lead by example and foster a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership, training, coaching, and performance management for Shipping and Receiving Team Members, holding them accountable to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Manage labor planning, scheduling, and overtime control for shipping and receiving teams.
- Select, coach, guide and Train all new team members
- Raise Performance concerns to the Shipping Leader as required and in a timely manner
- Escalate unresolved issues in a timely manner to the Shipping Leader even if off shift
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 to 7 years working in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of prior leadership expertise, bakery manufacturing is an asset
- Must be a demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading/motivating a team to meet schedule demands
- Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities
- Ability to manage people, communicate team duties and accountabilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed
- Post-secondary education an asset
