About the role:

The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)

is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values

and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures

continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,

understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.

Reporting to the Coordinator Woman and Children's Program you will be responsible for providing quality nursing

care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a

multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the

Philosophy of patient and family centered care, mission vision, values and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional

Health Sciences Centre.

As a member of the Women & Children's Resource Team, you will be part of a dynamic team of highly skilled and

knowledgeable Nurses who provide specialty care to patients within our program. The Women & Children's Resource

Team is an opportunity for Nurses to acquire and maintain competencies in the Women & Children's Program which

includes Paediatrics, Maternal Newborn, Neonatal Intensive Care and Labour & Delivery. Women & Children's

Resource Team Nurses are scheduled in accordance with the ONA Collective Agreement.

Applicants must have the following qualification:

* Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

* Current certification in BCLS

* Recent experience in Maternity, Perinatal, Neonatal or Paediatric nursing with experience in breastfeeding support

and the care of complex patient populations, including postoperative surgical patients

* Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his

basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery

* Collaborates and provides consult to Registered Practice Nurse's (RPN) when patients assigned to the RPN

become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected

* Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action

* Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions

* Strong interprofessional and communication skills

* Central Venous Line Management

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:

* Have a certification or recent continuing education in Perinatal nursing, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP),

Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Fetal Health Surveillance, lactation support, perinatal, neonatal or

paediatric nursing, Emergency Nurses Paediatric Course (ENPC)

* Certification from a formal Perioperative Nursing Course or demonstrated continuing education in Perioperative

Nursing

* Recent experience working with cardio‑respiratory monitoring in a critical care setting

Salary Range: $40.240 to 57.680
