Aspen View Public Schools, with a division office located in the town of Athabasca, is a rural school division providing diverse and innovative programming to students in a number of communities. H.A. Kostash School, located in the Town of Smoky Lake, provides educational programming to approximately 350 students from Early Learning to Grade 12. The school operates in a modern facility that opened in 2023 and offers a welcoming, student-focused environment with diverse learning opportunities across all grade levels.

Smoky Lake is a vibrant rural community situated about 115 kilometers east of Edmonton. The area offers a range of recreational opportunities and a variety of housing options, making it an appealing location for families and staff. H.A. H.A. Kostash School is recruiting a full-time temporary Principal for the 2026-2027 school year.

The ideal candidate will have the

• Successful teaching experience

• Strong understanding of the Leadership Quality Standard, including

  a commitment to complete the necessary training

• Excellent planning and organizational skills

• Committed to personal and staff professional development

• Experience using technology to facilitate learning

• A commitment to collaborative and data-informed decision making

• A background of involvement in community activities

• A commitment to promoting inclusive classroom practices

• Foundational knowledge and skills to support First Nations, Métis

  and Inuit students and families.

• Committed to assessment for learning and outcome based reporting

  practices
